A total of 460 students are studying at The University Centre in Svalbard this fall. That is a sharp increase from the same period last year when 429 students were enrolled. The proportion of Norwegian graduate students has increased from 45 percent last year to 48 percent this year. This means that UNIS is approaching the goal of officials seeking 50 percent Norwegian enrollment.

'It's going the right way'

UNIS Administrative Director Harald Ellingsen said he is pleased with the developments at the world's northernmost university.
