From Ebba Grön to Britney Spears

It turned out to be a great night at Svalbar, and with a wide range of tunes for your liking. The charming Swede flirted with his audience and entertained convincingly.

He might be the typical singer songwriter, but his voice certainly fits the more rocked cover songs he performed. Krekula isn’t afraid to do his own interpretation and that gives some really good versions of already familiar songs.

These nights will be repeated, and the next gig will be on July 31. And if you have some requests, you are more than welcome to come by and list them up, Krekula says.

Wednesday night live
There's only one place to be on Wednesdays, and that is at Svalbar to attend Wednesday Night Live. We have had the pleasure of getting a little taste of what you have to look forward to from the star of the show, Rickie Krekula, and it is safe to say you will not be disappointed.

Arriving a short month ago, Rickie has travelled here all the way from Gothenburg, Sweden, to work as a bartender at Svalbar and bring people together through these special events.

You can expect to hear some familiar tunes when Rickie hits the stage, in addition to some of his own original lyrics. Singer-songwriting pop, he says when asked about the genre.

The cover songs will be varied, Rickie continues, as he aims to bring diversity to the performances. His personal favorite? Riptide by Vance Joy.

- But I'm also going to do a lot of Gaga, as the movie she starred in (A Star Is Born) was love at first sight.

This is not Rickie's first time in the limelight, as he used to play in a house-band back in Sweden where they put on an acoustic show once a month. «Just having fun» he concludes with a boyish smile.

So what is the aim of Wednesday Night Live?

- To gather people around something, to create an event like this because we need more music. Gather people, have some cocktails and listen to live music! We want to make something that everybody enjoys.
